Kicking Off 2011

Posted on March 4, 2011

Less than 24 hours away until I toe the line at my first race of the year: USAT Sprint Nationals. This is the first time in USAT history that they’re hosting an elite nationals for the sprint distance, so it’s going to be an historic event! Although I’m in the middle of a tough 4 week training block, I’ve taken a few recovery days and am ready to go for tomorrow. This race has a very local feel to it for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it’s taking place 3 miles away from where I’m staying in Clermont. I have the luxury of being able to ride my bike right to the start line, and I can sleep in my own bed the night before. Second, the race director is Bill Burnett, the same race director as the Marlborough and Gloucester (2009) Triathlons. I know Bill very well. I’ve actually never lost a race where he’s been the race director! This is a whole different ball game though 😉 Finally, after being on the ITU circuit for almost 5 years now, I pretty much know all my main competitors. There’s not too many unfamiliar faces anymore.

TYR: Always in Front!

I also received a shipment from TYR today. They have some awesome stuff in there 2011 collection. I can’t wait to test out their new carbon race suit. It’s always fabulous to get boxes full of schwag!
